Frankly, this final stretch of the trail is crummy! With the Manzano Mountains behind us (in the distance to the south), we are still more than two hours from the end of our hike. With water
dwindling, we're not sure if we're lucky to have avoided the usual late afternoon summer rainstorm. Over the past hour, we've met the most hikers we've seen all day — eight in all, and all on the
Embudito Canyon trail during our final descent. The scenery has been terrific!
