The remaining meetings are currently scheduled for these Mondays:
-- March 14,
-- April 4 (a joint Highland Parents Partnership & Highland Instructional Council meeting), and
-- May 9.
All meetings are at 6 pm and are usually held in the library conference room. Note that the April meeting is NOT on the second Monday of the month, as usual, because of the HIC meeting schedule.
Other opportunites to become involved in school improvement: the School Health Advisory Committee (meets twice yearly), the Citizens Action & Advisory Council (CAAC), and the HIC.
Call Mike Kruchoski at 480-5000 for more information.
Good news about HHS achievements:
-- The HHS "We The People" team took first in state competition for the fourth time in five years. They will compete against the top teams in the nation in early May and are hoping to finally place in the Top Ten.
-- Academic Decathlon: Highland took fifth in state competition this year.
-- The boys Cross Country team placed second in state district competition last fall (2004), trailing behind La Cueva by ONLY ONE POINT. When the Albuquerque Journal reported that La Cueva placed first, what they SHOULD have said was "JUST BARELY placed first." Wait until next season...
-- In a statewide German language competency, Highland students garnered three of the top five places: #1, #2, and #5.
It's clear: Highland High School is a place to excel when you're willing to work hard!
