A Town Hall Meeting featuring education and the Partnership between TEAM KIRTLAND and the Highland Cluster of Albuquerque Public Schools will be held on Wednesday, 22 Sep at 1800 hours in the Rio Grande Community Center, Kirtland AFB.
Kirtland AFB parents are encouraged to attend to gain first hand knowledge of the progress being made to address parents' biggest concerns: academic rigor, safety and discipline. Highland Cluster principals will also be in attendance.
Monica Sturgill is looking for a permanent host family for Hannes Larsen, a 17 year old exchange student from Sweden now at HHS. Hannes has been staying (temporarily) with his "welcome family" since arriving in Albuquerque, but getting settled with a new, long-term host family is important. Can you host him? Or do you know someone who might be able to?
An ideal home would include a boy about his age. Hannes speaks fairly good English. He likes soccer and computer graphics.
Of course, it's important for the host family to be within the Highland district.
If you can help, or if you want more information about what is involved, please call Monica at 792-0573.
And if you live in the Manzano district, or know someone who does, there is another exchange student (16 year old boy from Lebanon) in need of a permanent host home. Please call me (Mike) at 480-5000 if you or an acquaintance might be interested in hosting him.
Time again to resume our regular monthly meetings. We meet for the first time this school year on Monday evening, September 13th, at 6:00 p.m. in the Highland High School library conference room.
This is your opportunity to:
-- learn more about what's going on at HHS,
-- provide your VITAL parent feedback to administration and staff, and
-- collaborate on important improvements for our students' benefit.
Please come join us -- and invite another parent to get involved, too.
