Highland cluster lead principal Nikki Dennis, who is serving temporarily as HHS principal, would like to meet with parents tonight, Monday, December 5th, 7:30 pm, in the library conference room. Parents are welcome to invite other Highland parents who are not on our mailing list to attend.
Posted by ergo at December 05, 2005 06:19 AMAs you know, this is an unofficial, non-APS web site. We thank APS for providing a link to us.
Speakly strictly for myself, I feel very sad about the news of principal Ace Trujillo's arrest, but I'm confident APS will deal with this quickly, fairly, and constructively. I hope that others will, too.
Almost immediately after the news broke last night, I was asked by a reporter if I had "anything I could share". Well....
-- Highland HS placed fourth in the nation in the 2005 "We The People" constitutional law competition.
-- Highland HS produced three of the top five German language students in NM in the 2005 American Association of Teachers of German national exam.
-- Highland HS produced the NM "Emerson Scholar" for the Interlochen Arts Camp in 2005.
-- Highland took first in the 2005 State track championship -- and second in cross country for the past two years.
Yes, these are just a few of the things I'd like to share about Highland HS students, parents, teachers, and administrators. These are the things you'll hear very little about in our local media.
[In fairness, I thank Albuquerque Tribune editor Phill Casaus for covering the "We The People" results locally -- and Robyn Blumner of the St. Petersburg (Florida) Times for her glowing article about HHS students' excellence.]
I choose not to rush to judgment nor to gossip and speculate, lest I sink to the same level as Jim "The Nucci" Villanucci, who seems to believe his job is to shoot first and get facts later.
