Congratulations Tom Root!!!

Tom Root, a long time member of the program recently graduated with his Doctorate Degree from UNM. We know Tom has been working very hard on this, but also that he has always been there for the program even though he was very busy with his job, studies, and family. We would like to say a BIG thank you to Tom and wish him the best with his new pursuits.

Rachel's Courtyard

The longhouse presented Tom Laub a check for $100.00 and the card signed by everyone at the balloon launch. This was for the memorial courtyard in honor of his daughter, Rachel, who died suddenly last April. He is in the process of trying to raise money to make this hospital courtyard a reality. Tom was really touched by our contribution, and told us how much the program meant to him and his son while they were in it just a few years ago.

Tom still has a long way to go to raise enough money for this project. If you would like to contribute, please contact Tom at 844-9142 or twlaub@sandia.gov.

Next Longhouse Meeting

Our next longhouse meeting is Tuesday December 7, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Mountainside. Main topic: Holiday Party.

Holiday Party

The Holiday Party is fast approaching! The date is December 7, from 11:30 – 2:30 p.m. The location is the same as last year, Hoover Middle School (2 blocks west of the Mountainside YMCA). We will again have a potluck, as it has been very successful the last two years. All tribes are encouraged bring enough main, side, and dessert dishes to feed a tribe their size plus a few more people. If we keep this in mind, there should be enough food to go around. The longhouse is also requesting that each tribe bring two 2-liters of soda.

This year we are accepting food donations or cash to support the YMCA Holiday Food Drive. Each person attending is asked to bring one non-perishable (non-glass) food item or one dollar to contribute.

Editor's Note

I have the pleasure of being able to put into this edition several articles from our parents and kids concerning activities that they have been involved with the past month or so. As you will read, there is a lot going in our program.
